Robin Van Persie Injury "Not Serious", Still A Doubt For Weekend

Robin Van Persie's thigh injury that resulted in his substitution at half-time in Holland's 4-1 win over Hungary is "not serious", according to manager Louis Van Gaal, but the Manchester United striker could still be a doubt for the weekend.

The Dutch boss told SBS6: "We took off Robin for precautionary measures. It doesn't seem to be too serious, but you never know. We didn't want to take any risks."

The Red Devils take on Wigan at Old Trafford on Saturday, and Van Persie has quickly established himself as a key member of the United squad, particularly in the absence of Wayne Rooney. The former Arsenal man has 4 goals in just 3 games, including a hat-trick in United's last Premier League game, a 3-2 victory over Southampton.

United are also waiting on news about the fitness of Shinji Kagawa, who was also taken off as a precaution for a minor back injury, and is thought to be in a similar situation.
