Manchester United’s Champions League Draw
On Thursday morning, 10:30am GMT over in Nyon, the draw for the final 16 of the Champions League will be made.
As Manchester United won their group they are therefore seeded, those that finished top of their groups go into the draw as seeded with those finishing as runners-up unseeded.
When the draw is made in Nyon tomorrow (Thursday) the unseeded teams will be first out of the hat, meaning that Manchester United’s first game will be the away.
Once the draw has been made then both home and away leg of the tie must be played between February 12th and March 13th of 2013.
The group winners from the previous stage: Paris St Germain, Schalke, Malaga, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona & Manchester United
The group runners-up for the previous stage: Porto, Arsenal, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Valencia, Shakhtar Donetsk, Galatasaray SK, Celtic
As you cannot face a team that is playing in the same league in the final 16 then this rules out Manchester United facing Arsenal, not only that but a team will not be drawn against the runners-up in the same group of the group stage, thus ruling out being drawn against Galatasaray SK.
Manchester United can face the following teams:
- Porto
- AC Milan
- Real Madrid
- Valencia
- Shakhtar Donetsk
- Celtic
