Wayne Rooney out for three-weeks with a knee injury

Wayne Rooney suffered a knee injury while taking part in Christmas Day training at Carrington that is set to keep him out of action for up to three-weeks.
Rooney was absent from the squad on Boxing Day against Newcastle United sparking rumours before the game that he had indeed been dropped due to his poor performance against Swansea City.
But Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed after the game to MUTV that he it is an injury keeping him out:
“Wayne did it towards the end of training yesterday, he was trying a volley when he strained a ligament behind the knee. It’s unfortunate, and he could be out for two to three weeks.”
The injury will keep him out for remaining festive matches against West Brom, Wigan Athletic and West Ham United.
A target of the Liverpool game at Old Trafford will be in sight for Wayne Rooney to recover.
