In today’s Daily Star, Spurs Legend
Glenn Hoddle has told Gareth Bale that if he’s to leave Tottenham, he
should sign for United. I for one would absolutely love to have a world
class star such as Bale sign for the Red Devils.
Hoddle who made 377 appearances and
scored 88 goals for Spurs in a twelve-year spell as a player, as well as
enjoying a spell as manager between 2001-2003. The former England
manager believes Spurs Welsh wizard should stay in the UK should he
choose to leave White Hart Lane this summer, as he believes he’s too
young to be a success abroad.
Hoddle himself runs an academy in Spain
for young British players who have been released by their clubs, and so
has some experience of young British players abroad and must have more
of an insight than most on their ability to adapt. He also believes the
fact Bale has a young family may work in United’s favour too, with the
Welshman less likely to want to uproot them..
However, Hoddle does say a move to
either Manchester club could be good for Bale, so United will have to
fight off interest from their main rivals domestically as well as
Europe’s footballing giants, while negotiating with the notoriously
difficult Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy if they were to land Bale.
The same article states our new manager
David Moyes will sanction a world record £85m bid for Bale if he fails
in his attempt to bring Real Madrid superstar and United great Cristiano
Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.
If United can really go out and sign
either of these two players this summer, it will be a huge sign of
intent from the club and a massive boost to our new manager as he begins
the task of following the greatest manager in football history, Sir
Alex Ferguson.
