Manchester United manager David Moyes
has spoken to Sky Sports News yesterday suggesting that the club are still
looking to bring in new players in order to strengthen the squad ahead
of the new Barclays Premier League season which starts on Saturday.
Moyes said:
“I’m confident we’ll have players in.“We’re involved in several players we’re looking at and that will continue. Will we get them before the deadline? I hope so, but we’re working very hard to do so.“What I do know is that we have a great group of players already, who won the Premier League last year. We’ve got a lot of exciting young players – a lot of them played for England last night – so it’s important that we focus on the players we’ve got at Manchester United and how well they did last year.“Not much has changed so hopefully they’ll be able to continue from where they left off last season.”
Only last night Moyes was a guest pundit on ITV’s coverage of the England v Scotland match which saw England win
3-2 with Southampton’s Rickie Lambert scoring the winning goal. He was
asked after the match if he would welcome the end of the transfer
market, in which Moyes responded:
It seems that the new manager is taking his time so he signs the right players or players Manchester United require. He has done the same with Everton in the past. After reading an article from the Independent from Sunday, it explains a little bit more into the details of how he targeted players whilst at Everton. I am sure he will be doing something similar with United, but obviously now being able to target a better quality of player.“I’m looking forward to the start of the season, that’s what all the managers are looking forward to just now.“We’ve all been working hard in pre-season so we’re looking forward to kicking it off.”
