United interested in £30 million Willian?

According to reports this evening, Manchester United manager David Moyes has entered the race to sign Anzhi Makhachkala attacking midfielder Willian. The 25-year-old Brazilian has already attracted attention from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur during this summers transfer window and United look set to hijack the deal, if the press is to be believed. The Daily Mail even suggests that not the Old Trafford club have made enquiries for the player, it is now his preferred destination.
Willian has been subject to some interest this summer from Manchester City, but their bid to land the Brazilian was turned down. The player spoke about that and the continued interest from Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool. He said:

“There was the Manchester City bid that was turned down. Now I’m waiting for a new bid to arrive in the next days from a few clubs, like Liverpool. If it’s really Liverpool, then it is surely a great club. I’m hopeful and very calm, just waiting for the best.
“England is my goal. I like the Premier League very much, I enjoy the English football and certainly, if that happens, it will be very good for me and for my image.”
To me it seems that the player just wants to play in the Barclays Premier League and will settle for Liverpool if he has to. Could he do a job at United though, that is the question on some supporters lips today!
The Brazilian started out playing for Corinthians back in 2006, leaving the club in 2007 for the Ukraine. During his time at Corinthians he made 37 appearances, scoring twice. He signed for Shakhtar Donetsk in 2007 and spent six seasons at the club, making 222 appearances, scoring 37 goals. In January he signed for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in a €35 million deal. He has made 15 appearances, scoring once.
Willian has only represented Brazil internationally twice and has not scored for his country. With the World Cup in his native Brazil next year, he may want to raise his profile to see if he will be selected to represent his country once again.
