Transfer Market Review

As a fan of Manchester United as so many others I have been looking at the transfer window with great expectation that we will be making a marquee signing and after all the dust has settled have we actually achieved anything ?

In my view the blame for our poor transfer dealings have to land squarely at the feet of our new Chief Executive Edward Woodward. Now as we all know David Moyes didn’t start work until 1st July but as David has now confirmed he met with Fergie a few months prior to confirmation that he was the man to take over from him this season. But surely they must have discussed the potential transfer targets and drawn up a list for the incoming Chief Executive.

That being the case Ed Woodward would have had the list of potential targets a long time ago and to miss out on the likes of Thiago Alcantara which went on far too long before we were ultimately beaten in a deal that took 24 hours when ours took months and wasn’t even close apparently.
All this being the case we end up with a great signing in Marouane Fellaini and we are all exceptionally pleased that we signed the player although I am a little miffed why we paid an extra 5 mill on top of what we could have possibly got him for a month ago and we wouldn’t pay the extra 5 mil in tax to complete the Herrera deal apparently.

In regards to the Herrera deal I guess we will never know the truth behind the deal but I still don’t understand that the story about us willing to pay the release fee broke at 14:30 and we were sending people over to Spain to complete the deal and if this wasn’t the case why didn’t United come out and reject the reports, I believe that United were at the La Liga offices and we just didn’t want the player at that price, I don’t believe this imposter rubbish and should an Athletic Bilbao player be willing to take a 1 million pay cut to join us? or should Fellaini have to hand in a transfer request so that we get them?

Seriously questions need to be answered by the clubs hierarchy about this transfer window as unless Woodward realises the terrible way he has gone about our transfer business this summer he is in danger of ruining the great work David Gill and Sir Alex did for Manchester United in the transfer market aswell as the respect between clubs in the negotiating process.
