Berg: Januzaj could eclipse Özil as a player

Former Manchester United treble winning defender Henning Berg has said that Belgian-born attacking midfielder Adnan Januzaj has the ability and determination to rise to the very top of world football after his debut against Sunderland at the weekend. The 18-year-old, currently in a contract wrangle with the Old Trafford club scored twice on his full debut in the Barclays Premier League against the Black Cats. Berg said that Januzaj’s style of play was similar to that of new Arsenal signing Mesut Özil.
Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT, Berg said:

“He reminds me a lot of Ozil. He is that kind of player. Obviously he is not at that level yet, but he is a similar type of player with similar abilities and hopefully he can improve to be a top, top player.”

It just shows how much class Januzaj brings to the club at his age, and what he could bring in the future. I remember Ryan Giggs taking the headlines when he made his debut for United back in 1991 and look at what he has achieved. He is the most decorated footballer in the British Isles winning 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, four League Cups, nine FA Community Shields, twice a winner of the  UEFA Champions League, a UEFA Super Cup winner, and an Intercontinental Cup and FIFA Club World Cup winner.

Giggs has the most appearances in the Barclays Premier League, so far he has scored in 21 of the 22 Barclays Premier League seasons he has played in, which is a record that he will break again should he score this season. He is also holds the most appearances in the UEFA Champions League, which he achieved last week against Shakhtar Donetsk when he replaced Marouane Fellaini.

Adnan Januzaj has a lot to live up to at United, but it has already been said that he has everything in his locker to achieve that.
